Solana (SOL) Successfully Absorbs Historic 6 Tbps DDoS Attack in 2025
The Solana network successfully absorbed a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack peaking at 6 terabits per second, according to reports. The attack, corroborated by Solana co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal, ranks among the largest in internet history. Unlike previous incidents, this attack caused no downtime or increased user fees. The network's resilience is attributed to advanced, custom-built defenses, including a new high-availability (HA) system and the use of QUIC protocol. The number of active operators has decreased by over 35% in 2025, driven by the Solana Foundation's policy changes. The network is now increasingly run by professional infrastructure shops, leading to validator consolidation and centralization concerns.
