Solana (SOL) Deflects 6 Tbps Attack Using Traffic-Shaping Protocol
The Solana network reportedly withstood a 6 terabits per second attack, according to data published by delivery network Pipe. The attack's magnitude is usually reserved for major internet targets. Despite the high traffic volume, Solana continued to produce blocks without a coordinated restart or significant increase in user fees. An Anza contributor noted the 6 Tbps figure was a short peak burst, not a constant stream. Denial-of-service attacks overwhelm a target with junk traffic, disrupting normal operations. Crypto networks face a unique challenge: spam transactions that congest the chain, especially when financial incentives are involved. Solana has experienced past outages due to bot-driven transactions and NFT minting attempts. Attackers may seek extortion, reputational damage, or market manipulation.
