SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw Departs, Leaving All-Republican Panel
Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, the sole Democratic member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has departed from the agency. According to reports, this leaves the SEC with an entirely Republican panel. Crenshaw had previously voiced dissenting opinions regarding the approval of spot Bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) in January 2024 and had consistently expressed skepticism towards cryptocurrencies. Her departure marks a shift in the composition of the regulatory body overseeing the digital asset space.
