Greenland as 10,000 EH/s Bitcoin Mining Hub with US Support?
Reports indicate a potential scenario where Greenland could become a significant Bitcoin mining hub, particularly if it were to become part of the U.S. The discussion revolves around utilizing Greenland's hydropower resources for large-scale mining operations. The government plans to open a public tender in 2026 for two hydropower sites, Tasersiaq and Tarsartuup Tasersua, which could produce over 9,500 gigawatt-hours annually. Currently, Nukissiorfiit reports 91.3 megawatts of hydropower capacity. Expansion plans, including the Buksefjord project, aim to increase capacity, potentially supporting a hashrate ceiling of 2.07β7.33 EH/s. The long-term vision involves leveraging Greenland's gigawatt-scale potential for a hashrate ceiling around 44.8β65.7 EH/s.
