Bitcoin's $100,000 Milestone: Inflation's Impact on Real Value
According to CryptoSlate, while Bitcoin may have appeared to reach $100,000, adjusting for inflation using 2020 dollars reveals a slightly different picture. A chart amplified by Galaxy's Alex Thorn indicated that Bitcoin topped out just below this mark, around $99,848 in real terms. This isn't a criticism of Bitcoin, but a reminder of the changing value of money. The report highlights that a $100 bill in 2020 holds more purchasing power than a $100 bill in late 2025 due to inflation. Consequently, to achieve a true $100,000 value in 2020 terms, Bitcoin's nominal price would need to reach approximately $125,000.
